New Year update…

– 20.01.18 –

Significant progress has been made at The Riverwalk in Durham over the past few months. Work commenced on the roof installation across all buildings, as well as the building facades, including brickwork, windows, doors and curtain walling, timber and metal cladding. Significant progress has also been made on the first fix internal fit out for the student accommodation element of the development.

For the retail element, the onsite scaffolding will shortly be removed to reveal the new facades, and construction of the new kiosks to the south of Riverwalk Square, will soon be completed.

The team will complete construction of the student accommodation buildings, roof and façade brickwork and windows in the coming weeks. While ongoing construction of the cinema auditoria and restaurants will continue.

Owned by a fund managed by Clearbell Capital, the £30 million redevelopment of The Riverwalk will include a variety of restaurants, 23 refurbished shops, a six-screen Odeon cinema, and improved entrances and public realm areas, helping to enhance the city’s amenities both during the day and at night-time. As part of the development, 253 student rooms will also be built.

Old Toms Gin Bar opened its doors at The Riverwalk in November, joining restaurant Thai River. The Odeon, as well as Cosy Club, Turtle Bay and boutique bowling alley Lane7 are all set to open in early Summer 2019.
