The Riverwalk is owned & managed by Clearbell Capital LLP

When Clearbell took on the redevelopment of this historic area along the River Wear, they knew how important it would be to the people of Durham. It is now fully established as a thriving hub; providing accommodation for Durham’s students and home to a wide range of independent retail businesses, restaurants, bars and cafes. With Odeon Luxe at its centre, it has become a prime destination for entertainment and social activity, boosting the day to evening economy in Durham. We are proud of what we have achieved so far with the help of Durham Council and our charity partners.

SUPPORTING ST CUTHBERT’S

We are proud to work with important local charity St Cuthbert’s Hospice. The free individual care and support they offer within the community for people with advanced illnesses, those approaching the end of their lives and the bereaved, is vital. Their multi-professional team consists of specially trained doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, social workers and counsellors. They work collaboratively to make sure every patient is able to discuss their needs and wishes when spending time at the hospice. We support St Cuthbert’s by fundraising as part of our annual events programme as well as supporting Insight Magazine.

SUPPORTING FIGHT AGAINST POVERTY IN COUNTY DURHAM

The Riverwalk and Clearbell Property Partners II LP (Clearbell), a fund managed by Clearbell Capital LLP have donated £10,000 towards the Poverty Hurts campaign in conjunction with Durham’s Lumiere Festival. This has been matched by County Durham Community Foundation and committed to fighting poverty and enriching lives in County Durham all year round.

The County Durham Community Foundation Poverty Hurts Appeal brings businesses and communities together to alleviate poverty across the country. In the last year alone, the Poverty Hurts Appeal has helped an estimated 34,650 children and adults facing hardship by awarding £618,594 in grants to small but vital charities at the heart of helping local communities.

The donation follows another successful year for the Lumiere Festival, installations for which were hosted at The Riverwalk. The festival brings art and culture to all and the pledged support for Poverty Hurts will see Lumiere’s legacy continue to enrich lives throughout the year.
Toby Saul, Associate Director at Clearbell Capital LLP said: “At the heart of Clearbell’s mission is an ambition to better engage with communities in the locations we operate in, and ultimately drive long-lasting social value for them. The work that Poverty Hurts do is vital in supporting some of the most vulnerable members of the community around The Riverwalk, and so we’re very proud to be able to support them in their cause, and to be part of Lumiere, an event that continues to go from strength to strength and increase footfall for our occupiers.
