Veeno Wine Bar and Kitchen To Officially Open in Durham on September 17th
Italian wine bar and kitchen Veeno has confirmed it will officially open its doors in Durham on Wednesday, September 17th, bringing authentic Sicilian wines, Italian Aperitivo, and Spuntini to the city.
The new venue at The Riverwalk will offer a true taste of Italy, with a menu featuring artisan meats and cheeses, fresh pasta, pizzas, and classic Italian cocktails.
Husband and wife team, Dan and Donna Lewis, have purchased the franchise from Veeno founders Nino Caruso and Rodrigue Trouillet, who operate five sites across the UK. A full team is now in place and ready to deliver the Veeno experience in Durham.
Dan said:
“It’s been a hard few months getting everything ready – from transforming the venue to building a fantastic new team – but we’re finally here. We can’t wait to open our doors on September 17th and welcome everyone to experience Veeno for the very first time.”
Following the company’s celebrated model, Veeno Durham will serve wines from Nino’s family vineyard, Caruso & Minini, based in Marsala, western Sicily.
Donna added:
“At Veeno, every glass reflects the heart of Sicily – vibrant, refined, and shaped by generations of winemaking tradition. Each bottle carries the story of Nino’s family heritage, the warmth of sun-soaked vineyards, and a deep respect for the land that produces them.”
In addition to showcasing wines from the estate, Veeno also champions small-scale, independent Italian producers.
Spuntini – platters of meats and cheese – will be imported from specialist Italian artisan suppliers with whom Veeno has longstanding relationships.
Guests can also enjoy a range of authentic ‘Experiences’ that celebrate Italy’s rich food and wine culture. These include:
- A Trip to Sicily – six family wines paired with a spuntini board and tiramisu made to Nino’s grandmother’s recipe
- Italian Afternoon Tea
- Wine tasting journeys exploring reds, whites, and rosés

To celebrate the launch, all guests visiting Veeno Durham from September 17th to 30th will be welcomed with a complimentary glass of wine.
